It’s the Ospreys first home BKT URC of the season on Saturday as they play host to the DHL Stormers at the Dunraven Brewery Field.
The Stormers are missing a few key players on international duty but still have plethora of South African talent to pick from. We’ve identified a couple of those players to keep an eye on this week.
Dan Du Plessis
Du Plessis has been named captain of the Stormers first touring squad is a key part of the DHL Stormers’ leadership group.
His leadership credentials probably spawn from his long line of South African rugby playing family, including his cousin Jean-Luc and father Michael, an ex-Springbok.
The 29-year-old has 64 Stormers caps and is a natural ball-player who fits in the fits in well with the Stormers playing style.
Warrick Gelant
Gelant is a talented playmaker that knows how expose and exploit space. The Blitzbok and Springbok put up one of the tries of the season last yearwhen he produced a dummy that bamboozled a Leinster backline.
Fully capable at full back, centre and on the wing, Gelant has a gifted boot which can often create problems for a defence.
Damian Willemse
Willemse was released early from the Springbok camp and will start in the number 15 role.
The utility back is a more than capable with 40 caps to his name and he will bring invaluable experience to the DHL Stormers, and an innovative nature that will be invaluable to their attack.
Willemse has made 77 appearances for the DHL Stormers, picking up a healthy 275 points in the process. Don’t be shocked to see his name on scoreboard, regardless of the result.
