It's a massive fixture this week in the Ospreys' hunt for the BKT URC playoffs as the team hosts the current champions of the BKT URC.
Munster have gone fully loaded for the their trip to Wales, so let's take a look at some of the players to keep an eye out for.
Gavin Coombes
Carrying on from his excellent season last year, Coombes has been the been the offensive staple for Munster this season.
Once again, he has been one of the stat leaders and not just for Munster, but in the whole league. He leads the league in carries with 165, which is 45 more than Aphelele Fassi who sits in second with 120. Successful carries provides similar reading, as Coombes sits on the top of the pile with 79, 24 ahead of the DHL Stormers’ Evan Roos who sits in second.
The carrying machine picked up a hat trick of tries last time the Ospreys faced Munster, the boys will be hoping to keep him to zero this time out.
RG Snyman
Also known as The Viking, Snyman is a Monster of a man. 6’9 and over 20 stone to go with it, you’d think the lock wouldn’t move too well. If you thought that, you’d be wrong. The giant carries a surprising amount of pace, and if you consider his set piece credentials, you’ve got an all round weapon.
With two Rugby World Cups, a BKT URC title and a Rugby Championship to his name, the South African has quite the resume. If not for his injury record, people would probably be questioning whether or not he was made in a lab.
Joey Carbery
Carbery was Munster’s top points scorer last season (92 in the BKT URC and 32 in the Heineken Champions Cup) and was amongst the try scorers when Munster last faced the Ospreys.
Carbery is a quality kicker off the tee, and offers a burst of pace on the ball that can often create separation in opposition defences. He demonstrated that pace when he scored his first try for Munster, wonder if you can guess who that was against…
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Carbery has 37 Ireland caps to his name and was part of the team’s first ever test series victory over New Zealand back in 2022.
