The initial Ospreys Women squad for the upcoming 2016/2017 regional competition has been confirmed.
The squad has been selected after holding open training sessions and by taking the players to National testing at the Centre of Excellence in the Vale of Glamorgan.
After our final training session last Friday night, new head coach, Jonathan Hawker, and assistant coaches Adam Park and Alyn Lake finalised this years’ squad.
The newly appointed management group are excited for the upcoming season, especially with the rate at which women’s rugby is growing. With the added excitement of this year being a World Cup year, it is important to set down strong foundations at regional level.
Head Coach Jonathan Hawker said:
“This is a big year for us as a new group coming together and we are really excited to have this group of players within our region. We have a strong blend of youth and experience, with 13 current internationals and so much potential within this squad we are relishing the challenge. The regional championship starts earlier this year which hasn’t left us a lot of time to prepare but we are happy with our selection and are looking forward to contesting for silverware this season”
The squad will get together this Friday Night at Llandarcy Academy of Sport building towards their opening game on the 4th of September in Ystrad Mynach against Cardiff Blues.
