Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby team took the inaugural GBWR 5’s Summer League Trophy after beating a strong Leicester Tigers side in the final.
After a few months of exciting wheelchair rugby in the brandnew WR5’s Summer League it all came down to the final game for the Ospreys.
The 5 a side league, which was established to give players who are not necessarily classifiable for the Paralympic version a chance to play at a competitive level, has run since May and culminated in the Finals Day at Stoke Mandeville Stadium yesterday.
After four very intense games Osprey WR reached the finals and took on the Leicester Tigers in a thrilling but exhausting battle. It could have gone either way in the final seconds but the Ospreys’ hard work paid off and they emerged victorious, winning the inaugural League Trophy match 20 – 19.
