A player that is no stranger to a Player of the Match award, Morgan Morris recently signed a new deal with the Ospreys in a move that has left fans and analysts alike excited for the future of the team.
Morris, a Swansea-born, 24-year-old No.8, is a product of the Ospreys pathway and has cemented himself as an ever-present member of the Ospreys’ starting line-up.
The back rower has shown that he can hold his own and make a real difference on the pitch. He has been praised for his strong ball-carrying abilities, powerful tackling, and work rate, all of which have been critical in securing victories for the team.
Shane Williams was the latest pundit to join the plaudits for Morris. When discussing who he thinks should be included in Warren Gatland’s Wales squad, the Ospreys legend said:
“One for me who I really hope gets an opportunity is Morgan Morris for the Ospreys. I covered the Ospreys several times this year and he hasn't had a bad game.”
Morris’ decision to stay with the team shows his belief in the Ospreys project and his confidence in the club’s ability to achieve success in the seasons to come.
“I’m delighted to sign for another year at the Ospreys. It’s an exciting time to be part of the region and I’m thrilled to be representing the badge.”
“This club has been a huge part of my life so it’s great to be able to continue here. From players to coaches, we’re a close-knit bunch that are all pulling in the same direction to be the best team we can be.
Speaking about the signing, coach Toby Booth said: “Morgan is one of those players that every coach dreams of having, he’s one of our most consistent performers and has worked incredibly hard to become a valued member of our squad.
“His performances have not only warranted regular selection but also highlighted his quality in key areas of the game. With a strong work ethic, he’s a player who always wants to improve and it’s great he’ll be continuing to play his rugby with us.”
Morris’ re-signing is a positive step for Ospreys in their project. The team is filled with exciting young talent, and with Morris on board, the prospects for the team look promising.
