A taste of things to come with the new Ospreys App…
You may be forgiven for thinking that the sole preserve of scoring hat-tricks in sport was that of wingers in rugby and strikers in football. Not so here at Ospreys Rugby.
With the World Cup happening in Japan, before the tournament some of the talk was of the first hat-trick in Rugby World Cup history – achieved by another Ospreylian, Bridgend’s Glen Webbe, who famously scored 3 tries against Tonga in that inaugural tournament back in 1987.
Parry, at just 27, has an impressive career tally of 13 tries for the Ospreys and to give it some context, the leading try scoring prop in world rugby at international level is the great Italian prop Castrogiovanni with 11 tries in 119 appearances.
It must be an Italian thing, because in 88 appearances for the Ospreys Parry has registered two hat tricks in his career – the first against Italian side Zebre in 2017 and the second last night in a Man of the Match winning performance against Benetton at the Liberty Stadium.
At our next home game against Connacht on 2nd November, the Ospreys will launch our new app complete with enhanced and live ‘in game’ stats. So, with 6 carries, 3 tries, 92% lineout completion and 2 defensive turnovers, you’ll be able to monitor the impressive performance of players like Sam as the game is in play.
The Ospreys app was first launched as a fun way to meet the players through an augmented reality campaign. At the Connacht game, the serious business of an app packed with stats, news and features will be unveiled as the Ospreys aim to keep their winning record at home running.
If you haven’t had a go with our current app with AR and had your picture with Alun Wyn Jones then you can do so here:
