The Ospreys today confirmed that Shane Williams will spend the summer resting after withdrawing from the national squad for the Test matches against South Africa and New Zealand.
The winger made his decision to miss the international fixtures following consultation with the Ospreys and WRU medical teams, in the hope that the rest will allow a shoulder problem to clear up.
Ospreys physic Chris Towers confirmed:
"Shane has been troubled by an ongoing shoulder issue since the Six Nations. Since then, he has had a couple of injections to try and settle the condition and to help manage the symptoms. The injury hasn't settled completely, and in line with the medical advice we've had he now feels that he needs a period of rest to allow it to settle fully.
"We will be closely monitoring his condition, including seeking further medical advice, but we are hopeful that a period of prolonged rest will allow Shane to return to action at the start of next season refreshed and fully recovered."
