The Ospreys have confirmed that the South Stand Special will once again be in operation for next Friday's (March 6th) crucial Magners League game against third placed Leinster at the Liberty Stadium (KO 7.05pm).
The two exciting family-friendly initiatives proved a huge hit with supporters at the recent Connacht match, with clubs from as far afield as South Gower and Tondu taking advantage of free children's tickets and adult prices reduced to just a fiver, while hundreds of supporters visited the Family Funzone in the South Stand to try their luck on a range of rugby-themed inflatable activities.
With the outcome of the Leinster match likely to have a huge bearing on the final destination of the Magners League title, Ospreys bosses are hoping that even more fans will take advantage of the two initiatives and come along to support the region in their push for Magners League silverware.
Under the terms of the South Stand Special, schools and rugby clubs across Ospreylia are being offered the opportunity to bring under-16's to the matches for free, with a minimum of each four children accompanied by an adult paying just £5; whilst the Family Funzone, open to all supporters who attend the game, boasts attractions such as try line tussle, bungee run, and passing targets.
Ospreys Managing Director Roger Blyth commented:
"We introduced these two initiatives for the last match against Connacht and the feedback we have received from supporters, be they those who took advantage of the special ticket offer through their club or school, or if they simply came along to enjoy the Family Funzone suggests that they were warmly received.
"Following on from this success, we will be operating the two schemes once again for the forthcoming match against Leinster, which we see as a hugely important fixture for us in terms of our chances of reclaiming the Magners League title this season. It is second versus third, and a win on Friday evening will allow us to keep some pressure on Munster in first place and to create some breathing space and our opponents in third place.
"As we have seen so many times here at the Liberty Stadium, most recently against Leicester Tigers in January, a good crowd really getting behind the Ospreys can certainly help to make a difference. It can drive the team on, and we are looking to the fans to do the same against Leinster. Hopefully these two initiatives will help to boost the crowd for the match, and with it the atmosphere. I do believe that the South Stand Special is a fantastic offer, really providing value for money, so given that it's a Friday evening game, with no school the following day, we will hopefully see even more school's and rugby clubs in the area taking advantage of the offer.
"The game will be an entertaining one between two sides in contention for the title, and will provide Ospreys supporters with a chance to see a glimpse of the future in the shape of exciting prospects like Kristian Phillips, Ashley Beck, Gareth Owen and Dan Biggar, alongside top internationals like Sonny Parker, Marty Holah and Filo Tiatia. I know that the players, as well as the coaches, are really looking forward to hopefully securing a vital win that could prove the difference come the end of the season between winning the title once again and just missing out, and I'm sure that they would really appreciate a good crowd getting behind them on Friday evening."
Anyone from a school or rugby club in Ospreylia who is interested in taking advantage of the South Stand Special should contact Barny Harper at the Ospreys on 0870 990 9175. The standard group booking offers for any party of 20 or more, for all areas of the stadium will also be operating for these two games.
