St John’s School enjoy Liberty Stadium visit

Pupils take interactive tour of the Stadium as a part of the Ospreys Schools Programme.

Pupils from St John’s School in Porthcawl enjoyed a trip to the Liberty Stadium as a part of the ongoing RWE Schools programme recently.

The initiative looks to engage Primary school age pupils with the Ospreys and help them develop their oral, literacy and numeracy skills through investigating various aspects of Ospreys rugby activities and relating them to aspects of the pupils own lives.

The pupils from St John’s enjoyed a visit to the stadium where they got to see all areas of the stadium in a special behind the scenes tour including the changing rooms, press room and had a chance to sit pitch side in the dug outs as well as an interactive lesson in renewable energy inspired by our partners RWE.

The pupils were also excited to bump into a few familiar faces on their tour of the stadium, particularly Hanno Dirksen who helped show them the Ospreys trophy cabinet.

Pupils Adi and Steffan said on the visit:

“It was great coming to the Liberty today. We’re really big Ospreys fans and have had a great time seeing where they play and coming down the tunnel like they do. Our favourite part of today was everything!”

Mr Gatt, a teacher from St John’s added:

“It’s been a fantastic experience. From the minute we arrived it has been superb and the pupils have really enjoyed. The whole programme has been really interesting and informative especially with the talk on renewable energy, it really has been brilliant”.

The Ospreys Schools Programme was devised in partnership with RWE npower renewables,
a leading renewable energy company in Wales, and supported by Sony Technology Centre and Save Britain Money.
