The latest specialist clinic hosted by the Ospreys Coach Development team for coaches of all levels in the region is taking place at Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Wednesday 24th November at 7pm.
Recognised by external verification body 1st4sport Qualifications earlier this year as delivering the best coach development programme in Wales, the clinic forms part of a series of events throughout the season aimed at providing the best all round opportunities for coaches to improve their knowledge whatever level of the game they are working at.
November’s clinic focuses on ‘The Tackle Contest’, and will be led by Ospreys centurion Steve Tandy. An openside flanker capable of playing across the back row who passed 100 caps for the region last season, Tandy is now Head Coach of Bridgend RFC, currently top of Swalec League One West, and has been experiencing life as part of the Ospreys coaching set-up during the current LV= Cup campaign.
Following on from the ground breaking moves introduced by the Coach Development Team that has seen them extending the invitation to attend events out to referees in the region, once again referees are welcome to attend in addition to coaches, with the aim of not only gaining a greater understanding of the coaching mindset around a particularly contentious area of the game, but also to be able to provide their own invaluable input that will no doubt prove helpful to the coaches attending.
All coaches and referees are invited to attend so please spread the word amongst yourcolleagues, and contact tthomas@wru.co.ukfor further information.
