Justin Tipuric and Tom Smith will add their expert knowledge to a special coach development event being hosted by the Ospreys at Llandarcy this week.
The duo will be discussing the Tackle Contest tonight (Monday 22nd October) as part of the latest clinic run by the Community Rugby team, led by Coach Development Officer Dan Owens.
The evening, which gets underway at 7.00pm and is open to all active club coaches in the Ospreys region, is the latest in a long series of events organised by Dan and his Coach Development Colleague Tony Thomas, aimed at improving coaching standards across the region and in turn, helping to raise playing standards.
Speaking about this latest event, Dan commented:
“The tackle contest is a hot topic across the entire game. From educating the understanding of young players as to their roles and body profiles to developing regional players as to their roles and body profiles, the themes are common across the whole pathway.
“We are fortunate to be able to call on the expertise of Tom Smith and Justin Tipuric for this event, two locally produced back row players who not only have a wealth of experience and can be considered specialists in this area, but are keen to share their knowledge with the local rugby community. Both of them are developing coaches in their own right, and the evening will be a positive challenge assisting them in their growth.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for coaches to really get to grips with some of the Ospreys philosophies and fundamental principles of the tackle contest and a great opportunity to grow their own coaching knowledge and expertise.”
