Ospreys Rugby would like to pay tribute to Gareth Jenkins, the 18 year old Ospreys Academy & Welsh U18 prop forward who tragically died following a battle with cancer.
Over the course of the last week, numerous tributes have been paid to Gareth Jenkins, the 18 year old prop forward who tragically died following a battle against cancer. At his funeral on Tuesday, the Ospreys were represented by a number of his former colleagues, including Ashley Beck, along with managing director, Mike Cuddy, and Elite Performance Director, Andrew Hore and members of the Academy Staff who had worked with Gareth over the last few years. A formal tribute is being made in the matchday programme for our fixture against Benetton Treviso this Saturday. We've also made a request to European Rugby that we hold a minute's silence in his honour prior to the match. We'd like to reiterate our sincere condolences to his family & close friends at this difficult time, and hope that they can take some comfort in the knowledge that Gareth contributed to the lives of so many, not only in the world of rugby, but in general, and was highly regarded & respected by those within the Ospreys fraternity.
