With the play off stages of the World Cup going on at the moment "winning ugly" is on the lips of many players, coaches and pundits. Last night the Young Ospreys under 18's showed a great deal of determination in fulfilling that philosiphy.
The Scarlet Region on a high after their success against the under 20's last week showed a committment that would have pleased their management group, despite the loss. Also. although the Young Osprey management would have been displeased with certain aspects of their performance; they'll feel that it will be a lot easier to fix those issues on the back of a successful outcome. Despite the Scarlets having a large share of both possession and territory the Young Ospreys still managed to score two tries through centre Kristian Phillips. On both occasions Phillips showed his terrific pace in outflanking his opponents to score. The team can also be thankful to outside half Matthew Jarvis who kicked an excellent 11 points. The Scarlets scored the third of their three tries with the final move of the game to gain a deserved bonus point for being within 7 points of the Young Ospreys. Final Score Scarlets 17 Young Ospreys 21. Next up for the Young Ospreys is a top of the table clash at under 16 level with the Blues North on Wednesday 17th October at Llandarcy Academy of Sport, 7.15pm kick off. While the under 18 team will take on a Regional District XV at Corus on Monday 22nd October, 7.15pm kick off. This game will be used to identify any late developers that may have progressed since the summer selection.
