On Tuesday January 17th a Trial was held to re-establish a new under 18 squad after 10 Young Osprey players have been identified for development by the National Squad. The remainder of the squad played against the best of the Districts (Afan Nedd/Swansea/Bridgend) from within the Ospreys boundary. The experience of playing and training at Regional level certainly showed as a gritty and determined Districts team found the going tough and eventually lost by 34 points to nil. Tries were scored by Geraint Whittaker, Steve Evans, Lee Sims and Robert Hunt; Dane Clancey kicked 3 penalties and a conversion, to add to Nick Harwoods opening score a drop goal. However, the plus side for the Districts team is that twelve of their players will now benefit from being involved in training and playing at Regional Level. Their first session takes place this coming Monday (23rd January) at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport (7 pm) and their first fixture is against the Dragons at South Wales Police RFC on Wednesday 8th February, 7.15 kick off
